About Us

 

Brian Selby PhD


Dr. Brian Selby earned his Ph.D. in Psychology from the University of North Texas in 1999. He completed his Pre-Doctoral Intership in the Counseling Center at the University of Maine, Orono in 1999. He was also a Post-Doctoral Fellow in the Department of Psychiatry, School of Medicine and Dentistry and the University of Rochester. In 2001, he began his most important job of being a parent to two wonderful boys who are now wonderful young men.

"I have a generalist practice in which I treat children and adults with a variety of disorders from a Cognitive Behavioral Treatment (CBT) perspective.

I also have specialties in working with children who are struggling with anxiety, and with couples who are struggling in their relationship.

I take a practical approach designed to help my clients develop CBT coping skills, as well as behavioral parenting skills for parents, that they can use outside of the therapeutic setting. "

Christine Selby PhD, CEDS


Dr. Christine Selby earned her Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from the University of North Texas in 2000. Prior to that she earned her Master's Degree in Athletic Counseling from Springfield College in 1994. In 2000, she completed intesive training in psychodynamic psychotherapy during her Pre-Doctoral Internship in the Department of Psychiatry, School of Medicine and Dentistry at the University of Rochester. In 2001, she took on the role of stay-at-home mom for her sons prior to joining Selby Psychological Services in 2008.  

Dr. Selby has the following credentials:

  • Licensed Psychologist, Maine (PS1260)
  • Certified Eating Disorders Specialist (CEDS) - International Association of Eating Disorders Professionals (iaedp)

"I have specialties in eating disorders and sport psychology. Because of this combination of specialties I am uniquely qualified to treat athletes with eating disorders.  

I am particularly suited to help individuals who are interested in developing an understanding of why they have the thoughts, feelings and behaviors they do. Developing this type of understanding can better help individuals prevent similar concerns from surfacing again in the future."
